Tax and Investment Committee

 The Tax and Investment Committee plans the following in 2009.

1.      Assist AmCham member companies in accessing Uzbek authorities:

·        Arrange at least two meetings for AmCham member companies with Director of UzInfoInvest, Mr. Bakhtior Irmatov, (the first in February and one or more in the second or third quarter of 2009).

2.      Improve customs legislation in Uzbekistan:

·        Provide and discuss recommendations on improving customs legislation to and with the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce; and

·        Provide and discuss recommendations on improving customs legislation to and with UzInfoInvest.

3.      Make studies on sectors of the  economy, possibly with the assistance of the World Bank or other IFI; and identify barriers for conducting businesses in these sectors and present the results and recommendations to the GoU via Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and UzInfoInvest:

·        Exporting agricultural products from Uzbekistan.
