Visit of American Business Delegation to Uzbekistan on February 17-18, 2011

 On February 17–18 Robert O. Blake, US Assistant State Secretary, Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs led a delegation of the U. S. officials and representatives from leading U. S. firms to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. On February 17, 2010 officials of the delegation and Uzbek counterparts had a second round of the U.S.–Uzbekistan Annual Bilateral Consultations (ABCs), launched in December 2009 in Washington. Assistant Secretary Blake also met with government officials, civil society representatives, students, and the media.

 On February 18, Assistant Secretary Blake opened Uzbek- American Business Forum which was held at the Navoi Hall of the International Business Center. The American Business Delegation was brought by the American- Uzbek Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) and was very well presented by such well-known companies and corporations as Boeing, Case New Holland, General Electrics, Zeppelin International AG, NUKEM, Sikorsky Aircraft and many others.

Uzbek part was represented by the heads of local ministries and departments. Some representatives of the AmCham in Uzbekistan also participated at the business forum while others joined the participants at the lunch hosted by the AUCC.

 Galina Saidova, newly appointed Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade opened the forum stating that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States was developing in all areas, including trade and economy.

 Agenda of the Business Forum also included presentations of Alisher Shaikhov, Chairman of UCIC, J. Tajiev, Director of Uzinfoinvest , Sh. Fayzullaev, Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz NHC and many other representatives of the government of Uzbekistan The delegations of the two countries discussed expansion of mutual trade, increasing the number of joint ventures and implementation of projects in Navoi Free Industrial Zone.
