Firm reserves of grain, flour, edible oil and other foodstuff at wholesale and retail trade fully covers needs of population and ensures regular supply of internal market, UzA reported. It added that the volume of production of foodstuff is increasing and new capacities have been commissioned. Olim Nazarov, head of department at the State Committee on demonopolization, support of competition and entrepreneurship, said that the increased demand for foodstuff in world and rise of prices naturally affects Uzbekistan. He said Uzbekistan is undertaking measures to saturate foodstuff market and added that the firm retail prices to flour, edible oil and bread set. The report said foodstuff is supplied in timely manner to markets and shops to ensure sustainable supply. But, it adds, some salespeople are trying to make a fortune. The committee carried out over 3,000 monitorings and inspections on prices of above-mentioned products and registered infringements at over 500 enterprises. Over 407 million soums were returned to consumers.
