Dr. Robert Brindley has been appointed Director of Tashkent International School for the 2009-2010 school year.
A native of the United Kingdom, Robert is a graduate of ExeterUniversity (B.Sc. Hons.) and University of Keele P.G.C.E.) in the U.K. and received his Doctor of Philosophy (Educational Administration) from the University of New England, Australia, in 1996.
Robert began his career as a Mathematics and Chemistry teacher at MullionHigh School,
CornwallU.K. in 1980 and then obtained the position of Head of Math and Science at the JuniorEnglishSchool, Rome, Italy. From 1984 to 2001 he served as Deputy Headmaster at The Kooralbyn International School, Queensland, Australia, and then Housemaster and Head of Science at The Armidale School, Armidale, New South Wales, Australia. At The British School, Caracas, Venezuela Robert served in a myriad of school leadership roles including Head of Science and Mathematics, Deputy Headmaster, and Headmaster of Secondary School. In 2001, Robert joined the faculty of the AtlantaInternationalSchool as Head of Middle School and Director of Secondary Academic Studies. Robert was appointed Headmaster of Atlanta International School in 2005. During his tenure, Robert has helped to increase the Atlanta International School’s international, national, and Atlanta profile by overseeing the implementation of the IBMYP to complete the IB school continuum, restructuring the school’s departments of Business, Development, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, Admissions and Operations, and assisting in the launch of a capital campaign in excess of $16 million to enhance the curriculum and physical plant of the school.
Robert is an active member of the Council for International Schools (CIS) serving as an Advisor to the CIS Accreditation Service. Robert’s travels and work experiences across the globe have developed and nurtured an understanding and tolerance of differing social attitudes, perceptions and expectations. Such differing experiences provide Robert with an appreciation and awareness of educational issues and, in particular, inspire in him the desire to foster the development of a liberal curriculum within a disciplined, academic environment.
