Biography – Dale and Jean Henry
Dale Henry and his wife, Jean, are co-owners of Oasis FES, LLC, a registered business in Tashkent. Dale is the deputy director for business development and marketing at Oasis. They also own Oasis Agriculture, LLC, a registered business in Fort Myers, Florida.
Dale is the chairman of the subcommittee for agriculture under the American Chamber of Commerce trade and investment committee.
The Oasis FES consulting firm provides international specialists who can partner with local specialists in the subsectors of agriculture, water resources, environmental issues, food processing and food safety. Dale is also a networker and maintains an active database.
Jean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Before coming to Uzbekistan, she worked as a public health nurse in Pakistan with Afghan refugees. She grew up on farms in Iowa and Oregon.
Dale holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural engineering and a Master of Science degree in irrigation engineering. In the western United States, Dale worked as a consultant for agronomist and engineering firms. He also worked in irrigation districts in the United States and for the U.S. government as a drainage engineer. His first experience abroad was in Egypt on an agricultural research project.
The Henrys have lived in Tashkent since 1996 except for a few years in the mid-2000s. Both of their sons are fluent in Russian; their youngest son has spent all but three of his school years in local schools. The family has hosted countless Uzbek guests in their homes over the years and have been honored to be guests in their homes, as well.
The Henry family originally moved to Tashkent to assist local specialists who were confronting the Aral Sea environmental catastrophe. From 1996 until 2003 Dale worked as a career coach in conjunction with an English language non-governmental organization at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration.
Most of Dale’s professional-development protégés have gone abroad to dozens of countries for academic and practical training. They have since returned to Uzbekistan to contribute their talents to the development of this country.
