TOURISM & HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY COMMITTEE

Our Mission

The AmCham Tourism and Hospitality Committee is open to members in good standing that have a direct link to Tourism and Hospitality interests.

Working under the guidance of the AmCham, the Tourism and Hospitality Committee represents the business interests of Tourism and Hospitality companies and acts on behalf of both its American and Uzbek members, many of whom maintain significant commercial interests in the United States. Approval of membership resides with the Committee.
 
The Tourism and Hospitality Committee, consisting of senior managers, meets regularly to discuss among themselves the common problems all face in doing business in Uzbekistan specifically and Central Asia in general. These discussions, which focus on information sharing and preparing the industry workforce to meet various regional challenges, are informal and off-the-record. The Tourism and Hospitality Committee maintains a pro-active flow of information with the U.S. Embassy regarding the sector's institutional concerns and strategic development.
 
AmCham Tourism and Hospitality Committee's current agenda is:

  • To increase positive public awareness for the Tourism and Hospitality industry in Uzbekistan. To contribute and emphasize the creation a sustainable tourism environment.
  • To create a positive dialogue with Uzbek governmental officials and organizations. To make the Uzbekistan government/authorities identify tourism as a priority sector of the economy and to support the formulation and implementation of a favorable institutional and legal framework for the development of tourism sector with consideration for supporting sectors.
  • Where possible, to support Tourism initiatives in / to Uzbekistan in order to have the country increasingly benefit from existing and new tourism markets.
  • To address specific issues of concern to committee members, which include - visa issuance policies, currency conversion, tourism infrastructure development, transport, hotels, restaurants, camping facilities, registration of new Tourism and Hospitality organizations.
  • To contribute to the alleviation of any constraints on the development of leisure related tourism.
